Problems facing the program

As the implementers of this program these are some of the challenges we’re facing in delivering services to the orphans:

1-      Lack of enough Scholastic materials for our orphans during school time.

2-      Too many mosquitoes in the area. This puts our children lives vulnerable to diseases caused by mosquitoes like malaria, yellow fever.

3-      Lack of enough trained workers since their cost of maintenance is more than what the organization can afford at the moment. So we end up use cheap less trained labour.

4-      The issue of accessing clean water in Bugiri and Kayunga is still a problem. Due that the water normally used is 90% unsafe for drinking.

5-      Transport and coordination between these orphanages is still a big challenge. Due to this sometimes help reaching orphanages in deep villages is delayed.

6-      Our primary school lacks classrooms and desks. Like in Bugiri the children sit under the tree for their lessons.

7-      All the buildings which house the orphans and the programs are in desperate need of renovation and construction. In Bugiri one side of the roof has been blown off heavy rains and iron sheets need to be replaced.

8-      Poor bedding materials. Most of the orphans sleep on the floor in Bugiri with tone bed sheets and no beds.

9-       The feeding of these orphans needs to be upgraded to a balanced diet. Most of the times are feed on one type of food (posho, or cassava). This may lead to malnutrition.

10-  Lack of adequate funds to facilitate the organization’s programs in the 4districts. The need to establish income generating projects and strengthening the available project.

                 MCCP PLAN FOR 2008- 2013

Miracle celebration childcare project has the following plan laid up plan for the next 5years:

1- Establish income generating projects. This will help in the running of the day today activities of the organization. These income generating projects include:

Ø     Establish crop and animal husbandry; crop husbandry includes; pineapple growing, maize, potatoes, bananas and coffee. The organization has already land on which to Implement these projects. Animal husbandry includes; piggery, poultry for both layers and broilers.

Ø     Establishing a grinding machine to support the community in kayunga in grinding their cereals plus the orphans.

Ø     Expanding the small internet café to a fully established café and training centre with about 50computers. This will do two things at the same time. Training the orphans plus the community in computer knowledge and providing internet services to the community at the lowest cost affordable to the community.

2- Ensuring that by end of 2009 all our orphans (tune of 500) will have clothes, shoes, blankets, mattresses, mosquito nets, books, and uniforms.

3- Establishing a boarding primary/ secondary school for the orphans and needy children on our kayunga land. This will help in recruiting all our orphans and giving them the privileged of being educated.

Most of the children in Kayunga lack basic needs (Clean water, proper shelter, Education, vulnerable to malaria due too many mosquitoes

4- Renovating and building the 4 orphanage centers; Bugiri orphanage centre, Kayunga orphanage centre, Kampala orphanage centre and Mbale orphanage centre, since many of them are in a sorry state and desperately need attention. This will help in safeguarding the lives of our children.

5- Acquiring an orphanage van to help in transport and coordination within these 4 orphanages. And getting mosquito nets for every single child and the communities around.

6- Building a well/borehole in kayunga and protecting the well in Bugiri Orphanage centre so as to access safe drinking water.

Making the Kampala orphanage centre a national base and coordinating centre for any more development in the whole country.

7- Building a hospital/health centre in kayung- Nyondo region.

ACHIEVEMENTS REACHED IN 2008-2009

1-    Bugiri orphanage centre is now under reconstruction. The old half roofed weak structure has been demolished and now the new one is under construction.

MIRACLE CELEBRATION CHILD CARE PROGRAM

This is a Christian charitable non-governmental organization operating in Uganda in 4 districts (mbale, Kampala, kayunga, Bugiri). it origns are in uganda but streching it's operation accross Africa to be able to help the african child. Our new Africanoffices are  located in capetown, south Africa.

It is a development oriented organization committed to fostering participatory and sustainable development among marginalized children &communities. These are the problems facing the orphans:

-The first and core problem is poverty;

most of the families live on seasonal agricultural products, as such children education is not catered for. Also the H.I.V has left many children orphaned, and guardians left with them are not able to care for these children properly. 50% of the children who start primary education, 30% never reach primary seven.

Miracle Celebration Childcare Project (MCCP) was therefore initiated to address social, education, emotional, economic and spiritual needs of these marginalized children

The vision of MCCP is to have healthy, skilled and informed self reliant children, and to reach out to the lost and hurting people.

The mission statement is to carry a message of Hope to the Nations through compassionate works such as feeding the hungry, providing shelter to the homeless, clothing the naked among others.

MCCP has 200 orphans in Bugiri and 50 orphans in Mbale, 200 orphans in kayunga and 50 orphans in Kampala currently under its management. Most of these children are those whose parents died of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Other children are those whose parents are hopeless and cannot provide any material support to their children.

ACTIVITIES OF MIRACLE CELEBRATION CHILDCARE PROGRAM

 

• Providing basic needs of life to our orphans i.e education, clothing, shelter, feeding and religious upbringing. In the 4 regions.
• Holding meetings in the villages aimed at fighting the stigma caused by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. 
• Building   permanent homes where our program is currently running thus replacing the current temporary structure that we are currently using.
• Establishing a computer school with 50computors to train the orphans so that they can acquire computer knowledge and computer related jobs.

• Planting coffee, pineapples, maize, potatoes, cassava gardens to provide food and income for the orphans.
• Establishing of a diary farm, piggery, and poultry.
• Building a boarding primary & secondary school for the orphans and needy children.
• Visiting those who have been affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
• Massive preaching to the masses in a bid to spread the word of Christ.

  SHORT TERM OBJECTIVES:

v     Having permanent foster homes that can accommodate more orphans, to the tune of 500 than the current ones established.

v     Establishing farm of crop and animal husbandry on the fifteen achers of land already available,  to cater for the orphans basic needs.

v     Increasing on the staff in the current homes.

v     Introducing vocational studies to help equip these orphaned children with skills for self reliance.

v     Introducing income generating activities to raise more money to support these needy children.

v     Establishing a primary & secondary boarding school for the orphans and needy children.

v     Establishing a computer laboratory with about 50computors to help teach computer skills to these children since this is a computerized world, and also act as income generating project.

v     Meeting the most critical needs of the orphaned children through a developmental and sustainable Educational and Advocacy strategy.

LONG TERM OBJECTIVE:

“Ensuring that all the helpless, orphaned and deserted children, have restored hope and can sustain themselves through out their life span.”

 

PASTOR'S RECENT REPORT ON THE WELFARE OF THE ORPHANS&CHURCHES IN THE 3REGIONS

                        LORD LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE IN THE DARKNESS.

 

ISAIAH9:2 THE PEOPLE SAT IN GREAT DARKNESS HAVE SEEN A MARVELOUS LIGHT. AND THEY THAT SAT IN THE LAND OF DEEP DARKNESS UNTO THEM THE LIGHT HAS SHINED.

 

IN THE PAST 3DAYS I HAVE BEEN TOURING IN THE DEEP VILLAGES SEEING THE PROGRESS OF CHURCHES, ORPHAN CENTRES THAT WE ESTABLISHED.

EXPERIENCING THE LIFE OF LIVING WITHOUT ANY TECHINNOLOGY, ELECTRICTY, SLEEPING IN THE HUTS(GRASS ROOFED). SHARING WITH THEM THE LOVE OF JESUS AND ASSURING THEM THAT OUR GOD LOVES US THE SAME WHETHER RICH OR POOR, LEARNED OR ILLETRATE, VILLAGERS OR CITY DWELLERS, WE ARE ALL LOVED EQUALLY.

AND NOTICING THAT 80% OF THEM WERE WITHOUT SHOES AND GOOD CLOTHES TO PUT ON. SLEEPING ON THE FLOOR AND COVERING THEMSELVES WITH TORN AND DIRTY SHEETS. IT WAS TOO MUCH FOR ME.

I ALSO FOUND THAT OUR PRIMARY SCHOOL OF THE ORPHANS IN KAYUNGA NYONDO VILLAGE HAD BEEN TEMPROLIY CLOSED FOR LACK OF SALARIES FOR THE TEACHER ($30 PER MONTH) AND SCHOOL EQUIPEMENTS. AND THAT MEANT THAT OVER 300 ORPHANS AND NEEDY CHILDREN WERE NO LONGER IN SCHOOL. AND BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE MUCH WITH ME I ONLY HAD $80 DOLLARS WHICH I HAD SPLIT BTN THE PASTORS AND THE ORPHANS. BELIEVE ME IT WAS A DROP IN THE OCEAN. I DIDN'T HAVE MUCH BUT I GAVE ALL I HAD.

  THIS IS THE REPORT ON THE TOUR IN KAYUNGA CHURCH AND ORPHAN CENTRE, KAMPALA ORPHANS CENTRE AND BUGIRI CHURCH AND ORPHAN CENTRE:

 

1- KAYUNGA: I ARRIVED IN KAYUNGA AND WAS GLADLY WELCOME BY OUR BRANCH PASTOR(PST.CHAMINI WAMUTU) AND THE CHURCH ELDERS. WE HAD A MEETING AND THEY TOLD ME THE PROGRESS AND PROBLEMS FACED. THIS IS WHERE I NOTICED ALMOST ALL THE ORPHANS WE ARE HAVING THERE ARE NOT HAVING SHOES AND GOOD CLOTHES. THE PASTOR AND HIS FAMILY ARE LIVING IN A VERY ROTTEN HOUSE(SHACK). THE SCHOOL WE STARTED HAD STOPPED ORPERATING . THE CHURCH IS STILL IN A SORRY STATE.IT WAS SO SHOCKING THAT THE NUMBER OF TOTAL ORPHANS WHO ARE BELOW 10 YEARS ROSE FROM 50 TO 150 ORPHANS IN THAT CENTRE. THE WHOLE COMMUNITY THERE IS IN NEED OF HELP. POVERTY IN THE VILLAGE IS AT THE MAXIMUM. IN ALL I THANK GOD FOR ONE THING, I WAS ABLE TO RE-ASSURE THEIR FAITH THAT GOD IS IN CONTROL AND HELP IS ON THE WAY.

 

2- I LEFT AND REACHED KAMPALA. KAMPALA ORPHANS CENTRE IS NOT SO MUCH IN A SORRY STATE COMPARED TO KAYUNGA. ATLEAST 60% OF THE CHILDREN HAVE SHOES AND GOOD CLOTHES. THOUGH THE HOUSE WHERE THEY ARE LIVING IN IS LEAKING AND THE WALLS ARE VERY OLD THAT IT PUTS OUR ORPHANS LIVES AT RISK. PLUS ALSO KAMPALA BEING THE CAPITAL CITY THE FOOD IS VERY EXPENSIVE COMPARED TO KAYUNGA. SO THE MAJOR PROBLEM FACED IN KAMPALA ORPHANS CENTRE IS FEEDING AND HOUSE RENOVATION. AS A MINISTRY WE HAVE TRIED TO MAKE SURE MOST OF THESE ORPHANS IN THIS CENTRE GO TO SCHOOL. THE NUMBERS OF THE ORPHANS REGISTERED HERE HAVE GROWN FROM 20 TO 50 ORPHANS. I ASSURED THEM THAT GOD WILL NOT FORSAKE THEM AND TOLD THEM SAME MESSAGE; TO CONTINUE PRAYING BECAUSE HELP IS ON THE WAY.

 

3- FROM KAMPALA I HEADED TO BUGIRI CHURCH AND ORPHANS CENTRE. WHEN I ARRIVED I REALISED THAT THE PASTORS ELDERS AND ORPHANS HAD WAITED FOR ME FROM 9:AM UNTIL THE TIME I ARRIVED AT 5:30 PM. THIS IS WHAT THEY TOLD ME,AND ONCE AGAIN I WAS TOUCHED. " WE HAVE WAITED THE WHOLE DAY AND WE WERE STILL GOING TO WAIT THE WHOLE NIGHT FOR YOU."  I USED THE SMALL MONEYTHAT WAS REMAINING TO BUY LOAVES OF BREAD FOR THE ORPHANS BUT I HAD NOTHING TO GIVE TO THE PASTOR THERE.

STILL I CARRIED THE SAME MESSAGE AS TO THE OTHERS. FEAR NOT , TRUST GOD HELP IS ON THE WAY. THE PASTOR TOLD ME HE IS FACING ALOT OF DIFFCULTY IN TRANSPORT AND HE NEEDS A BICYCLE B'SE HE LIVES 8KM AWAY FROM THE CHURCH.

 

                                                   

SUMMARY:

MY HEART IS SO TOUCHED TO DO SOMETHING FOR THESE PEOPLE OF GOD IN THE 3DISTRICTS. I HAVE REALISED THAT ON TOP OF PRAYERS WE NEED TO FINANCIALLY COME IN ON A SERIOUS NOTE. TO PURCHASE CLOTHES, SCHOLASTIC MATERIALS, SALARIES FOR THE TEACHERS AND HELP IN BUILDING AND RENOVATION OF THE ORPHANAGE CENTRES IN DESPERATE NEED.

DEAR FRIEND AND PARTNER IT IS OUR DUTY TO SHOW LOVE TO THESE LESS FORTUNATE PEOPLE. I REALLY WANT TO HELP THEM BUT I DON'T HAVE MUCH. I NEED YOU TO STAND TOGATHER WITH ME SO THAT WE CAN SUPPORT GOD'S WORK IN THESE REGIONS. WHAT I SAW ON MY 3DAYS TRIP CANNOT BE FULLY EXPLAINED BY WORDS ONLY.

WITH WHATEVER LITTLE YOU CAN DO GOD CAN USE IT TO PUT A SMILE ON THESE ORPHANS AND NEEDY PASTORS OF UGANDA. HELP A CHILD TODAY HE WILL THANK YOU TOMORROW.
